ADFAS was founded in 1998 as a Member society (number 303) of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) which changed its name to The Arts Society in May 2017. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for the appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts and we work towards this by providing lectures, study days, visits and tours.
The Arts Society Review
The Arts Society produces a magazine which is sent to member's home addresses. It is published quarterly and provides news of The Arts Society activities nationally, as well as features on a range of topics including exhibitions or artists with significant anniversaries.

Representatives from the groups meet twice a year for mutual support, the exchange of information and at other times for training courses relevant to Committee members. A number of area study courses are arranged on a variety of related topics - generally in Winchester and Southampton.
